So what is life admin?
Right, so before we try to find solutions for it, we should probably define it. What exactly is life admin?
Life admin is the day to day “work” required to manage your life outside of any job that generates financial income.
It includes stuff like the following:
- Paying bills
- Laundry
- Tracking finances (budgeting)
- Managing insurance
- Tracking and paying taxes
- Car admin - cleaning, fuel, MOT, servicing
- Kids schooling
- Family care
- Grocery shopping
- Fixing and replacing things
- Home maintenance
The list goes on.
And it's usually a pain. Our modern lives are such that it can feel like there's a never ending list of admin tasks to get through outside of our income-generating work. Let's be honest, a lot of us do these tasks during our workday, otherwise, there simply wouldn't be enough hours in the day.
I recently saw this tweet, liked by 1.4m people - it's clear the hours in the day thing isn't an unusual problem to have.
Am I the only one that sees a problem with working 8-9 hours a day and then going home to having about 4 hours to yourself which includes getting ready for the next day??? This is not life…
